Requirements
If you are not already an ICB member or student you need to Register as a Student with ICB before you can book an ICB examination.
Most ICB qualifications need to be completed in order so you will find that you can only book certain examinations. For a full list of qualifications and their entry requirements please visit Qualifications & Examinations.
How soon can I take the exam?
Home-based examinations will be available to you immediately upon booking, whilst centre-based examinations need to booked at least a week in advance.
To find out which exams are home-based and which are centre-based please visit:
> Qualifications & Examinations
For more information about what to expect during the exam itself please visit:
> Taking an exam at home
> Taking an exam at a centre
Can I book in advance?
Yes. Some home-based examinations can be booked up to a few weeks in advance and centre-based examinations can usually be booked up to two months in advance.
Where will the exam be?
Many ICB examinations are 'home-based' meaning you can take them from the comfort of your own home or office. It's very important that you protect yourself from any distractions and that you do not ask others for help whether in person or online.
When taking a 'centre-based' examination you can choose the location from our network of 5200 centres worldwide. You can search for your nearest centre via our third-party booking site www.pearsonvue.com/ICB. You will also use this site to book your examination but you cannot do so until you are eligible and have been issued a special usernname and password.
How do I book a centre-based exam?
You need a special username to book your centre-based examination via our third party booking site www.pearsonvue.com/ICB. As soon as you pass enough exams to apply for your centre-based examination, we will send you an email containing your username. If you have not received this email please call ICB on 0845 060 2345 to have your email resent.
Can I cancel?
Home-based examinations are made available immediately upon booking and so cannot be cancelled.
Centre-based examinations can be cancelled or transferred five working days prior to the examination. Cancellations must be made directly via the third-party booking site or by calling Pearson Vue on the number provided on your booking confirmation email.
Can I retake an examination?
Yes. Because ICB examinations are available in every week of the year you can retake your examination as soon as you're ready. You will be required to pay the standard examination fee for your retake. After three failed attempts a candidate may be asked to delay further application until a) further study has been undertaken or b) after the new season's examination papers are available.
