Dubbed ‘rescuer to the rescuers’ because of local charitable work, Beverley Flanagan was named our Practice of the Year in 2012.
Rotherham resident, Beverley Flanagan, set up her successful bookkeeping business after being made redundant from her job as Financial Controller for the Daily Mail Group.
'It gave me the kick up the bum to start my own business!'
Just three years on, Beverley was travelling to London with her three staff to be presented with an award by HRH Prince Michael of Kent as part of the bookkeeping profession’s annual awards, the ‘Lucas’. The Luca Award for Bookkeeping Practice of the Year was presented in recognition of the growth of Beverley’s business, which has seen a 40% increase in clients over the last year. Speaking at the Savoy on the night Beverley said, ‘Flex Accounting is now becoming a well-known brand all through referrals and word of mouth and without spending a penny on advertising!’
We’re passionate about helping businesses succeed
Now expanding from their Sheffield base, Flex Accounting has moved to larger premises and taken on a virtual London office to cope with rising demand further south. The success of the business has led to Beverley being asked to work as a guest writer for her local Chamber of Commerce magazine and has enabled her to take on an apprentice.
In addition to supporting the training of her young apprentice, Beverley also finds time to give back to the community by working free of charge for local animal rescue charity, South Yorkshire Pet Ambulance who fondly refer to Flex Accounting as ‘rescuer to the rescuers.’
Beverley says,
‘the best bit about my work is that I get to support all types of business from the very small to the multi-million pound turnover companies. It’s why we’re called ‘Flex’, and we’re passionate about helping businesses succeed.
